The funds provided by Active Against ALS significantly aided in a collaborative project looking at how stress impacts production of these toxic proteins. This work would not have been done without the support of Active Against ALS and our results will soon be published. They suggest that targeting the stress pathways directly are unlikely to fix the underlying problems - meaning that we need to target our therapeutic strategies at an earlier stage in the pathogenic cascade.
