Each season hundreds of volunteers in Ann Arbor offer their time and energy to coach our youth sports teams through Rec & Ed. Bob Schoeni was one of the most dedicated and beloved coaches. He coached almost ten years of soccer, field hockey and softball, and many in Ann Arbor knew him as “Coach Bob.”
Through Coaching for a Cure families can honor a coach or group of coaches by donating to Active Against ALS. Over $5,000 has been donated through this initiative. Coach Kent Overbey: "Coach Kent has been the men’s cross-country coach at Ann Arbor’s Huron High School since 1985, he was track and field coach 1969-2009, and humanities teacher 1968-2007. He was named MITCA coach of the year in 2002. The Huron track was named in his honor in 2013."
